About me
Briefly, I would describe myself as an active woman. I just can't stay idle! I like all kinds of outdoor activities, such as kayaking, sailing and hiking, but my passion remains snowboarding. I also like to travel, especially to backpack on my own. I believe it is the best way to open your mind, to adapt to other cultures as well as to question your own way of thinking.

A few years ago, I did some volunteering. In 2004, I went to Mexico and then in 2007, I went to Peru with an organisation called les Ailes de l'Espérance. In Mexico, we traced lines in the middle of the roads in order to ensure security, we refreshed schools and community kitchens. We also built community parks and brought clothes. In Peru, we did not have the community support for political reasons and we had health issues so we only painted and refreshed schools and community buildings. I also got to teach in some classrooms and it was interesting to see how different the educational system is.
These two humanitarian trips made me realize that we go out there with the best intentions but that it is not always possible to do as much as we would like to. You can't get there and tell people to change their habits when they have been living a certain way forever. In the end, we do not change much in their lives, but these experiences change a lot in ours. These trips made me realize how lucky I am to live in such a great country like Canada and how hard it is to be a Peruvian woman.
